Final Sunday sessions of intro to throwing for the year at the Butter Factory Art Centre, Cooroy – bookings now open, it’s a lot of fun, trust me, I’m a potter!
I will have a selection of ceramics in the Ecletica exhibition which opens 5pm 20 October at the Butter Factory Art Centre, Cooroy. The exhibition runs until 27 November.
TEAPOTS are a challenge and a joy to create, I feel honoured to be part of the November Finders Keepers design market in Brisbane with a stall of my handmade teapots and I’m in a frenzy of making. Thought I’d share part of the process…
teapots are made in separate parts – body, spout, lid and handle – and put together once the clay has firmed up a little to a ‘leather hard’ state. Once constructed they need to dry slowly to avoid cracking of the individual components and then they are bisque fired, glazed and fired again.
Opening the kiln at the end of this quite long process is a huge reason I love pottery, it’s like opening a treasure chest – every time!
Drum roll…..PJ Pottery has been selected to participate in Finders Keepers Spring/Summer designer market, Brisbane Showground, 9-11 November. Visit their website, it’s awesome. Look me up on the directory, I will have a stall dedicated to tea pots.
